Question #1:

What are alternatives to cars?

This year, I will need transportation to school. If I need to go further in the evenings, I can use my mom's SUV, but during the day, she will need it.

Following all speed limits, it takes me about 20 minutes to get to school as is. Walking is not an option (2 1/2 hours walk there AND back? No thanks.) and bicycling is an iffy option (40 minutes, but Mom thinks it's not safe at all, even if I wear a helmet and pads).

The school bus does not come to my house, and there is no public transportation available in my area.

Mom seems to think we can get a less than 5 years old (important, because she's worried about Katrina-flooded cars) car for $2000-3000 with less than 100,000 miles. HA! I've checked all of the local listings and the ones in that price range tend to be 20 years old and have over 200,000 miles on them.

I only really need something to get me through this school year because I'm planning on going to college in a completely different part of the country... and I'm not up for a 2 day drive both ways, noooooooo way. So a brand new car to use for a year and let sit in the driveway would be ridiculous.

(Though I still don't think it's fair that she dropped a little more than $17,000 on a brand new car for my brother...)

So... since I'm only getting about 2-3K to search for transportation, what are some safe, CHEAP alternatives to cars?

Thanks.
I considered a Vespa. I will need the top speed to be 35 miles an hour at least, hopefully a little more, but 35 is the top speed for all of the roads on my route to school... and as any driver knows, the speed limit actually means minimum speed XD

I don't want to get run over by a car going a lot faster than my 20 miles an hour.

Question #2:

Can you suggest some used classic car online sites for buying and Selling in USA?

I need to buy an old classic car. My friend suggested me this website Click Here
Request all members of this forum to provide websites where I can compare old car listings.

Question #3:

whereis the best place to sell baby cloths online quick?

I need to make some money quick to pay a couple of unexpected bills.I have lots of baby cloths boths boys and girls mostly next, over 200 items of clothing that I would like to sell . Where are the best places to sell used baby cloths where they should sell quite quick. Please don't say ebay. I have a ebay account and would sell them on ebay but have a problem with my ebay account at the moment so can't. ( Its a long story but basically I agreed to buy 2 sofas of some one on ebay they were 2 different listings. After winning the auctions I tried to arrange to go and collect the sofas and pay in cash. The buyer then contacted me and told me he did not want to sell sofas any more and that I can't have them, I reported the seller to ebay for seller non performance. But a week later the seller opened a unpaid item dispute for each sofa. I again offered to pay and collect but the seller again refused a subsequently had 2 unpaid item strikes put on my account. because of these strikes ebay suspended my account. ebay have now removed the strikes but at moment my account is still suss pended). I did think about ebid another auction site, but it doesn't look like much sells on there so seems it might be a waste of time. Are there any good sites online for selling baby cloths and perhaps some baby equiptment like a jane power track 360 pushchair & a car seat.

Any advice would be much appreciated

thanks in advance
I have had a look at crags list, they have my countryim in the uk but they don't have my area where I live, the nearist area thay have to choosed from is over 100 miles from me. So how would I go about placeing a advert. I am based in cumbria in north west england so which area should I selct to post ad

thanks

Question #4:

Does anyone know any good sites for buying used cars?

I am in katy tx and have been looking all day for a website with listings. Tried Craigslist, and I hated it... Too weird for me.
I'm about to start working at a law firm for the second time, and last time I worked at this place I made a good deal of money. It was a bit more than minimum wage I think around 8.75
So technically it was a good deal more. Around 1.25 more. But! Either way, It would be much appreciated for some help!
Preferably by owners!

Question #5:

How can I convince my parents to let me get an iPhone?

Ok, I got an iPod Touch last May and it was awesome, but my parents won't let me take it out of the car. My parents said if I got another another one, they would let me take that one wherever I want. So I found some low priced iPhones on eBay (I'm going to use a deactivated SIM card to activate it), and my mom is on board with it because I'm finding a couple listings of what she wants, but my dad says "I don't think you need one right now". He tries to find some way to neglect what I'm doing "He doesn't have good feedback." User feedback: 99.98, "Shipping is 10 dollars." (Next Day Shipping). How should I go at them? Or should I wait for my birthday and ask for an iPhone 4, or other model?

By the way: This will be sort of like a Bigger Version of the iPod Touch, I have apps that let me make calls and text free. I like the iPhone's features better! :)

Question #8:

Whats a good mileage on a 2007 used car.?

Ok so I want to buy my first car....I've been looking through different online listings and I have decided to buy a Honda Civic either 2007 or newer.... There was this 2007 Sedan with 41,000 miles.... Is that too much for a 3 year old car???

Question #9:

BMW X5 Reliability? X3 maybe a better alternative?

I was thinking of buying an X5, but my budget is $15000. Based on used car listings I found, I should be expecting a 75-85K mileage range. I believe there are 3 available engines; which of them is the most reliable? And if the 3.0 happens to be the best, is it worth sacrificing power for its reliability?

In the unfortunate case that it isn't as reliable as BMW enthusiasts claim, I know I've heard good things about the X3. Assuming what I've heard is right, could the X3 be good enough. They both have five seats. Is the X5 really that much bigger?

Question #12:

Popular used Evo and STi Dealers?

I have been searching the internet for months for an STi or an Evo. I prefer an Evo but i definantly like an STi too. im getting kind of annoyed with seeing the same listings on auto trader, cars.com, ebay, and modifiedcartrader.com..... does anyone know of any dealer web sites that are popular for selling these types of cars? Im primarily looking in the 04-06 range.THANKS

Question #13:

I need the track listings to a Ford Audio Systems Demonstration Tape?

This Demo Tape came with a used Ford Car my father purchased circa 1990-1993. I would like to find all the track listings, these are the ones I remember.

Raiders of the Lost Ark Theme Song
Rosanna- Toto
Earth Wind And Fire- Got to get you into my life
Bob James- Kari
Michael Jackson- I just Can't stop loving you
Willie Nelson- Georgia on my mind
Barbra Streisand- Send in the clowns

I this these are correct, but this is from memory and many google searches. Any help filling in the blanks would be great. Thanks.

Question #14:

Question about a certain pasta type - looking for recipe help?

At the store the other day I picked up a bag of Filini pasta. I was thinking about using it to cook lunch for self and the kids. Only thing is I can't seem to find a recipe for anything but two soup recipes online to use it for, AllRecipes, and Cooks.com, have no listings (they think I misspelled the word!)

Have you ever cooked with this pasta, or eaten something cooked with it? Even just ideas would be wonderful. I'm stuck without a car today so I can't pick anything up at the store. I was going to use chicken breasts, and I have some veg at home here - just can't seem to find a good recipe to do so. Thanks in advance!
Two of the kids that I have today (daughter and roommate's son) are 1 year old and learning to self feed, which is why I was looking for something other than soup. But that's great knowledge to have, thank you! I'm also glad to know that it has similar taste/texture to be used as a spaghetti substitute... means I don't have to chop up the noodles for them. Thanks, all!

Question #16:

Can't decide between two cars. Both are Mazda's?

I went car shopping and ran into two Mazda's that I really liked. The first one is a 2002 Mazda Tribute DX (manual) with about 95,000 miles on it. I saw the Carfax and wow, it was the most impressive Carfax history I've ever seen. The DX was only owned by 1 previous owner who changed the oil every 3,000 miles (sometimes even less) and was very good at maintaining the brakes, lights, and suspension regularly. It is manual so it gets about 20-22 mpg on the road/ 25 on the freeway. This car is listed for about $5900.

The second Mazda is a 2003 Protege (automatic) with 77,000 miles. I saw the Carfax and it wasn't as detailed as the Tribute. It only had listings of passing emissions inspection and when it got sold to the other owners (no listings on oil changes, brakes, etc). This car does get around 30 mpg on the road and the price is $4,500.

To give a background on my situation. I am 19 years old and attending a community college about 10 minutes from my house and my job is about 15 minutes. So I don't have to commute very far everyday.

I did like both cars very much. The Protege does have less miles, has better gas mileage, and cheaper than the Tribute. But the Tribute had an amazing Carfax report that had every detail of maintenance and only 1 previous owner (unlike the Protege which had 3). Also, I've been driving my mom's 03 Ford Explorer since I was 16 so I am used to the SUV feel.

So all in all, I can't decide. Both are great cars. If anyone can provide me with their personal opinion or advice that would be great! Sorry for the really long explanation but this will be my first car so I need all the help I can get! Thanks :)

Question #17:

Car listings/classifieds/advertisements/etc?

Are there any sites other than craigslist where I list a car for sale? Preferably the advertisement site is free to use.
I am selling the car in Massachusetts, (USA)

Question #19:

Can I Get A Used Car For Around Under $1000?

I'm 16 and getting my license in a month, so i need a car. I've seen some listings on websites like autotrader.com and such that are like $500. Is this actually what you would pay or is there a catch? And what is the best way to but a used car?
sorry i meant buy :)

Question #20:

Need a job but no one will help any suggestions?

Ok i have been looking for work for a year since graduating college.Ive signed up with the only two temp agencies in town they wont call me back, i look online for job listings, and email and fax my resume. I can only look for jobs online because my car went dead like it cant be repaired dead and my mother wont let me use hers not complaining just stating the facts.

We live in a rural area where there is no public transportation. Taxis dont come to my town bc its "too far away".It takes 45 mins driving to get to the nearest city and you can only get to it by interstate so walking and riding a bike is highly ilegal(i was told this by the town police chief the other day). My friends are all two hours away and they live in a bigger city where they ride the bus or their parents let them use their cars. They all live wth their parents too so i cant go stay with them. I have no family i can stay with to get a job bc everyone in our family hates each other.

So any suggestions? No i am not whinning i want a job i need help on how to get out of this situation. Everyone has had to get help from someone at some point no one does everything alone. Usually ppl get out of college and their parents do everything they can to help them find work. Mine parent have not and will not so i need suggestions on what to do.
